Federal Legislation Would Force Chemical Testing

Senator Max Baucus is promoting new legislation called the Safe Chemicals Act of 2011.
It would require testing of chemicals before they are used in everyday products.
The activist group, Women’s Voices for the Earth, says health problems related to toxic chemical exposure are on the rise, citing research that shows that breast cancer rates have risen from a lifetime risk of one in twenty to one in eight.
