Go BPA-Free This Holiday Season!
Opt for Fresh or Frozen Veggies Instead of Canned
Do you enjoy the tradition of green bean casserole on Thanksgiving like millions of others? Unfortunately, canned green beans have topped the list in recent tests of canned foods for the presence of Bisphenol A (BPA). BPA is a hormone-disrupting chemical that leaches from many can liners.
Instead, try your favorite recipe using fresh or frozen green beans. Other ways to avoid BPA this holiday season:
- Cook fresh vegetables
- Choose boxed soups and broths
- Choose foods packaged in glass jars instead of cans
- Seek out products from the few companies now using BPA-free can liners like Westbrae Natural, Hunt’s, Healthy Choice and H.J. Heinz.
