Everyone deserves to live in a healthy and safe environment. That environment includes where you live, work, play, and pray. We reject and actively push back against racist rhetoric, actions, policies and institutional oppression that leads to state-sanctioned brutality, gun violence, and harm that again and again assaults communities, particularly communities of color. We are committed to working for justice and equity, and are in solidarity with social, racial, and environmental justice organizations to build community, understanding and honest dialogue to address the root causes of violence, harm and hate.

We haven’t met, but I’ve been fighting for your health, and I know you’ve been fighting for mine.  My name is Reagen, and I’m a Women’s Voices for the Earth Actionista.

We all have personal reasons for being part of WVE. I’m writing to tell you my story, and to ask you to show your support for Women’s Voices for the Earth this holiday season.

In 2005, I fell in love. We met as ski instructors in Montana. We were young, healthy, and so happy. We got engaged. But six weeks later, my fiancé was diagnosed with cancer.

It came out of nowhere. I was shocked, angry and confused. While we were figuring out wedding details, we were going to appointments and planning for treatment.

My partner and I fought it together. He went into remission, and we got married. We focused more on our health, and two years later, we were expecting twins. When they were born prematurely, I felt the same shock, anger and confusion that I did before.

A light bulb went off. This wasn’t right. Something was impacting my health and the health of the people I loved, and I knew I had to do something about it.

I started to think about the products we used. I saw that there were toxic, cancer-causing chemicals in cleaning sprays, cosmetics—even products made for babies! I began to share what I learned. I had passion, but I lacked confidence. How could I make my voice heard? How could I stand up to these big corporations on my own?

That’s when I found Women’s Voices for the Earth, and I learned that when we all raise our voices together, we can’t be ignored.

WVE asked me to testify for an ingredient right-to-know bill in Montana, showing me how I could put my passion to work. I had dreamt of having people listen, and there I was behind a podium, speaking my truth about why it matters to me to know what’s in the products we use.

Women’s Voices for the Earth helps me and you, and thousands of people like us, advocate for what we believe in and make change happen. Together, we’re challenging powerful corporations, passing laws to protect our health, and helping people everywhere lessen their exposure to harmful chemicals.

Will you join me in making a gift this holiday season? Your donation to WVE strengthens the leadership and improves the health of women everywhere.

Thank you for working side-by-side with me for a healthier future!
